Career Site FAQ

The Jobvite-powered career site is your front door for new hires. We create a company career site that engages visitors, blends seamlessly with your corporate website and provides a great candidate experience. Your career site enables you to display the list of open jobs you maintain in Jobvite and allows candidates to apply without complicated registration barriers. Candidates can even attach their LinkedIn profiles with their applications.

Please review the Frequently Asked Questions below on the career sites. If you still have questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

What are the different components of a career site?

There are 8 distinctive pages that make up a career site. Below is an overview of each page/component of the Jobvite-powered career site and detailed screen shot examples.

Jobs
  • This page lists out all the current requisitions that are marked as Open status within Jobvite
  • By default, the jobs are sorted by category with the job title and location underneath
  • There is a link for candidates to sign up for email job notifications and a link to allow them to check their applications in Jobvite
Job Description
  • The job description you enter into Jobvite on a requisition will be dynamically displayed on the career site. Any formatting such as bullets/numbering/bolding will be carried over as well.
  • The “Send Jobvite” widget is placed on each job description and will allow potential applicants to share the job listing with their social networks via LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter
EU Compliance
  • This page will appear after a candidate clicks the Apply button on a job that is located in the EU. Standard EU Compliance text will appear with buttons that say “I Accept” or “I Decline”. The text can be customized on this page to fit your company’s needs. Clicking “I Accept” will forward the candidate to the Apply form. Clicking “I Decline” will navigate the candidate back to the listing of jobs.
Apply
  • Candidates will use this online form to fill in information such as their Name, address and upload a resume.
Apply Confirm
  • This page is displayed after a candidate submits their application. It confirms the application was processed and that an email will be sent.
Apply Duplicate
  • This page will be displayed if a candidate attempts to apply to the same job again with the same email address. Jobvite will only allow one unique submission per email address.
Notify
  • Candidates can sign up for job notifications by category and they will get emails when you open a new requisition in Jobvite.
Notify Confirm
  • This page is displayed after a candidate fills out the form to sign up for job notifications. It confirms the action was processed.

What is the difference between the iFrame vs. Fully Hosted Career Site? Can I See Examples?

We currently offer two solutions regarding career sites. Both solutions result in a career site that looks and feels like your existing corporate web site.

Option 1: iFrame (recommended)

An iFrame (Inline Frame) is a HTML structure that allows another HTML document to be inserted into an HTML page. The iFrame is set up as a window frame of a specified size that scrolls along with the rest of the page, but the iFrame's content can itself be scrolled if it is larger than the iFrame window. The iFrame is typically used to insert an ad or small amount of text in the middle of a page.

*Note: the iFrame solution does require that you host a small .htm file on your servers to facilitate the automatic resizing of the iFrame to prevent the need of a secondary scroll bar.

Benefits Drawbacks
  • Visitors to your site will still see your URL in their browsers instead of www.jobvite.com, so they’ll know that they’re applying for a job at your company.

  • It allows you to continue to have more control over the design of the page outside of the IFRAME, so you can make simple changes on your own. Compared to the hosted solution where you’ll have to work with a Jobvite engineer to make any changes to the hosted pages.
  • Your IT Admin will need to get involved to implement the iFrame on the website.

Implementation Instructions:

There are a a series of 3 steps to complete the installation of the iFrame on your career site. Please pass along the following instructions to your technical team to implement the Jobvite iFrame on your career site: iFrame Instructions

Example iFrame Career Sites:

Yelp Career Site
Yelp
Twitter Career Site
Twitter
AdMob Career Site
AdMob

Option 2: Fully Hosted

You can have Jobvite host your entire career site. We will take a copy of your current website's header/navigation/footer/CSS and place it around the Jobvite career site content. The links on your website point to a URL at www.jobvite.com.

Benefits Drawbacks
  • The hosted solution is great if you want your visitors to know that they are using an external service, or if you have limited technical staff that will not be making frequent changes to the web site.
  • The URL in the user’s browser will change to www.jobvite.com, which may cause confusion on what company they are applying to.

  • This requires more overhead, as you would need to contact a Jobvite engineer to make any changes to the career site.

Implementation Instructions:

You will need to notify the technical team that maintains your corporate website. All instances of your current "Careers" link will need to be changed to point to your new fully-hosted Jobvite career site.

Example Fully Hosted Career Sites:

TiVo Career Site

CPB Career Site
Crispin Porter + Bogusky
FrontRange Career Site
